Is it illegal to sell your Social Security annuity?

I certainly hope so. And I assume it is, since I don't see advertisements offering to buy the payment stream.

I don't know, but if it is, I would certainly like to sell mine to Rustic23 for 28.6 times the annual payment.

Well you can sell your Military Retirement income stream, so why not SS. IMO either one would be a very stupid decision.

IMO, whether or not it's a "very stupid decision" would depend upon the sale price.

Social Security Act §207

I suppose you could sell your annuity, but since no one could enforce their right to get the money from you, it might be hard to find a buyer.
