Yeah, I was going to suggest yote's and/or hawks to take care of the chicken's.
But it seems the cat might have been easier prey.[Please all - don't peg me as a cat hater, I am definitely not and was really bummed when I had to put my 20+ year cat down a year ago. He almost didn't make it past a few years old after having an 'encounter' with a bobcat in the back woods behind the house. Such is rural living.]
