Life Strategy,and Target Retirement.....

Many thanks to all,for your kind replies! I'm learning quite a bit and by your suggestions I might once and for all get the proper allocation.
Thanks also to Chuck-Lyn and his suggestions to invest into Vanguard's Life Strategy and or Target Retirement
fund.I wonder.......Is it possible to get proper diversification investing in either of the above mentioned MF? :-/
I belive that can put my$ on the "automated funds"and
withdraw dividends + 4%,is it possible?
Looking forward to your replies, thanks for being so patience...........roger

No - the 4% is total recommended draw including dividends in today's stock/bond environment. With Target Retirement Series or Lifestrategy you are diversified - you buy it 'out of the can' in one fund. It really can be that simple. Have them auto deduct the 4% (or less ) to your bank account grab your ATM/Visa card and go camping.

Re: Life Strategy,and Target Retirement.....

I do not have a standard draw or SWR. As I have
explained, my net worth has increased since I retired
and of course I am much closer to SS now. This has
resulted in a bit more comfort with my situation since I
semiretired in 1993.
However, my net worth took a hit over the past year.
Unexpected legal bills, tuition help for my daughter
and selling some land for less than I hoped all
contributed. With no more "surprises" I hope to recover
fairly quickly. I will say that if my spouse wasn't still working, it would get tricky real fast. We could still
make it work, but my financial skills would be tested.
