New ING competition but @ 3% APY

I saw a post here about 3 or 4 days ago for EmigrateDirect
But I can't find it.

Any one know about this new offering?

It appears to be similar to ING. It is a division of Emigrate Savings Bank a strongly rated bank as per bankrate.com.
It is offering 3% interest with no minimum balance. Pretty nice!

Here is the URL.

ING's respone if they are raising rates:
______________________________________

ING DIRECT does not match rates. Our rates are not based on one
competitor,
they are based on overall market conditions as well as on our
competition.

If you are simply looking for a better rate, keep in mind that we
currently
offers CDs with rates as high as 4.10% APY.

Opening an Orange Certificate of Deposit is quick, easy and convenient.
The
simplest way is by clicking on the Open an Account button on our web
site,
and completing the process in a few easy steps. Or you can call us at
1-800-
ING-DIRECT to request an Orange Certificate of Deposit Application,
which you
can complete and return by mail.

If you have any further questions, give us a call 1-800-ING-DIRECT.

Thanks for your interest in ING DIRECT,
Scott

There are no rates on their website, but I saw an ad in this past Sunday's Washington Post from Cardinal Bank. 21 month CD paying 3.30%.

Umbrella Bank is offering a special today. If you open a checking account, they will give you 3.55% on a one-year CD. Looks like no minimum balance on the checking account (see www.umbrellabank.com).

Please read again. It is mentioned twice.

Thanks. The bank is rated below industry standards according to bankrates.com.

ING's response is about what I expected. Basically, I think they like to hit the top of the tables published by the WSJ, Kiplinger's and others showing the top savings/MM rates in the country. If Emigrant starts to show up, you can bet ING will beat it.

Think you need to re-read my post. The comment about no rates on the website is referring to Cardinal Bank (not Emigrant). I offered it up as another alternative with a somewhat higher yield and not a long timeframe (21 months).
