New vehicle tax credit question
I hope there are a few tax experts who might be able to help with this question. I always do my own taxes and this year was able to take the new vehicle tax credit for a car purchased last year. I itemize deductions on both my federal and state returns.
When doing my state return (NYS IT-201 long), there is an itemized deduction worksheet you need to use to take out the amount of state income taxes you paid which are included in your federal itemized deduction total. There does not appear to be any info to also remove the sales tax paid on the new vehicle, so I left it in. Is this correct? If not, on what line would it appear in the worksheet? Thanks!
