News from Canuckdia

Several interesting articles today in The National Post.

One on the subject of how the international markets are becoming more and more correlated. Also that the Canadian indicies have become highly correlated to commodities.

I have noticed this myself. Check out the difference between fidelity's Canadian Fund and Vanguard's oil and gas (energy?) fund. Like Siamese twins. Uncertain about what to do about this. Favoring switching to the Vanguard energy fund to reduce costs.

One on the subject of "The Number". 4% [more or less] still looks good. Live forever at 3%.

Ed

Post-script: Started a new job today. One block from my flea-bag apt in 'city centre' Calgary. Nice people. High hopes. (After family concerns necessitated not taking either of two dy-no-mite jobs in Houston. Thanks God for a hot market for process engineers.)

Ciao,

El Gitano

Re: News from Canuckdia

I forgot...

there was also a link to Iowa PERS site which has a lot of retirement-type calculators.

http://www.ipers.org/sub/calcs/

Still haven't eye-balled them all personally yet.

FYI.
