NFCU Special 3% - 5 Month CD
Navy Federal Credit Unit has a Special CD that pays 3% on a 5 Month CD. The maximum amount is 10K.

We were discussing this in another thread regarding another bank's CD rates. I just thought I'd point this out in a thread so others are aware.
I ended up maxing out on this deal at 10K since I had some money just setting in a savings account.

Thanks for the heads up and I suspect it is usefufor those who already have an account at NFCU with idle money, but with the $10k max it is next to useless to me.... not worth setting up an account for that small an amount.

Well, crap, I didn't see this post when I made another one just a few minutes ago.
Still, I'll take $125 in free money in five months. Unless I'm doing the math terrible wrong. Either way, free money!

Your math is correct. I'll also make the same $125. I also take advantage f their 12 Month 3% - 3K max CD. It's a small amount, but far better than any savings account.

Very disappointed by the term and cap on this. I just moved a big chunk away from NFCU and it was tough getting them to honor transfer request. Took 2 months to get my money out so I'll need more incentive to open another CD there.

NFCU has ben pretty good recently about creating CD options. I agree that the $10K limit takes it off of my radar.

I'm in. I have some money sitting in a MMSA that can do better with this deal.
