I think Calpine hit about $60 when the US was desperately short of electricity.

I remember reading at the time that was a paradigm shift too because every electron over the Internet needed to be produced by a power plant.

I beg to differ as production ramps up and macroeconomics on supply and demand ratchet downward pressure on prices.

For price comparison, Starbucks Expresso is $186.00/gallon.

I have a big bet on the sector--I work in oil. "Black oil". It don't get no blacker.

Correct!

Look at the price of gasoline here in new jersey dropped to 1.91 in early dec and now over 2.30 and the winter has been warm.

Now with Iran and Nigeria the price will head past 70 a barrel next week!!

I gotta sell my house sooner than later here in nj before the $hit hits the fan this summer.

The wife called the realtor today, house goes on the market next week.

I gotta get out of new jersey before the recession and take my early teachers pension!

S&P 500 - Energy Sector: 8.64% as of 11/30/05. It's probably close to 10% by now.

newguy, I think you should do what you need to do, but I wouldn't get hysterical about a recession in NJ. At least in the last recession, NJ's economy fared a LOT better than NYC and other surrounding areas.
