You have stumbled upon a little noticed fact- some of us here are Zombies. It can take a while to identify which of have already "crossed the river"

Golfing: "Left arm straight, right elbow tucked at impact, grip it and rip it."

Fly-Fishing: Go with "light" leader. Nothing fancy on patterns, just "match the hatch".

That's all I got.

Check with the 20, 30, 40 year olds on this board for financial advise.

One thing you will NOT hear spoken on most members of this boards "Death bed" is, "Gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office".

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

Seems like a silly question, but OK I'll bite as I'm celebrating my ONE YEAR in FIRE. I joined the IGBW last March at age 50. I've barely got my head around the idea yet, but am truely diggin' the concept. AS BTO plainly states, "I Love to Work at Nothin' All Day!" IGBW and I are now both 51, although she would be quick to remind me I'm a full 6 months older therefore quite ancient in comparison.

Where is the rest of the class of 06? : 8)

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

I'm 64. Retired close to 3 years ago. Wife is 56 and will retire in 3 months.
I'm too old to be a boomer. According to the paper, I'm from the silent generation. That made my wife laugh, derisively.

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

Turned 56 this past Monday....FIRE'd on December 31, 2006 -- and loving every minute of it!

So glad I listened to my Dad when I was in my early 20s! He nagged me to save/invest at least 10% of my pay every payday -- and I did it only to get him off my back! Best advice I ever got...THANKS, DAD! (Who, by the way, FIRE'd at the age of 62 and is now 88 and is in terrific health!)

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

Well, I am the results of the 'summer of 69'! I gather many of you remember it fondly :

(36 - turning 37 next month) Working on FIRE April 2020...or depending on what life brings in the next few years....April 2025 Woooohoooo!!

I do plan to enjoy these years officially full time employed, but that light at the end of this tunnel is getting brighter!

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

I'll be 59 in a few months. This is the greatest board around that I've seen for retirement. I really wish there was a good source of feedback from the 65 to 80 year olds. At a younger age the focus is on savings. It would be interesting to here stories from individuals with a long history of withdrawals.

If enough of us stick around (both on the forum and above ground ) for a while, we'll be able to provide some feedback. But for now there are darn few of us here over 65 as the poll reflects. Maybe the "early" retirement moniker scares them off? Or maybe they are just getting on with living and not futzing around with this new-fangled internet stuff.

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

We are both 54.

First ER was at age 50; next one will be in a couple of months. Don't know if I will stay forever unemployed but I am willing to give it a shot.

Re: Poll: How old ar you?

I'm 59. Semi-retired myself two years ago, went back to work full-time this year for a couple of years just because I wanted to. Still plan to retire fully in summer of '08 when I will be 61.

Fully retired at 57 in April 2006. Haven't regretted a moment of it.
