Check pictures 17 and 33. Yummy!
Of course they have commercial dead bolts and wire over the windows. How else are they going to keep the zombies out?

Poll - House value to net worth

I remembered a poll like this shortly after I joined. It was triggered by a long thread discussing the same issue. Came up with a quick search.

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

Well over 40% of projected "NW" as defined here. Caveats: I'll have a pension which accounts for roughly half of our annual spend, and we live in southern California so home value is silly.

I like to think my house is worth $500K because that's what I've put into it over 30 years, but realistically it is probably closer to $350K which puts me at 17.5%. Mortgage is paid off but I still have a HELOC of about $75K.

Thanks! I knew I’d seen one, but I never do well with searches on older threads Results appear similar despite different “bins.”

Using the OP's formula, we are at 19%. Not too bad since we will have pension income that I am not counting in my net worth.
