Scott Burns: Medicare premiums rise faster than Social Security COLA

"The big question: Will the accelerating rise in retiree health care costs overwhelm the natural decline of spending in other areas?

Recent evidence isn't encouraging."

The book written on, "The Military Guide to Financial Independence and Retirement", on sale now! For more info see "About Me" in my profile.
I don't spend much time here anymore, so please send me a PM. Thanks.

Re: Scott Burns: Medicare premiums rise faster than Social Security COLA

I reported this a while back, courtesy of my dad. He states that his SS cola is not keeping up with the medicare costs. He's about even over the last 12 years. While he estimates that his SS check has about 30% less buying power than it did when he first received it 12 years ago. But he's lived in a high cost of living area.
Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful. Just another form of "buy low, sell high" for those who have trouble with things. This rule is not universal. Do not buy a 1973 Pinto because everyone else is afraid of it.
