Scott Burns on the "Fair Tax"

Scott Burns has started a poll about the "Fair Tax" (oxymoron?). You can see it here:

I definitely think we need a tax reform, but I don't agree with all of his arguments. For example, he thinks this will reduce corruption by elimating the tax lobbiests. In my opinion, if a politician is corruptible in the first place, he will be corrupted anyway.

Also, wouldn't a consumption tax reduce consumption? According to many reports, consumption is what keeps the economy growing.
