Seems ISM is taking a bit of a beating this week...

Yeah, that explains it.

So the per-share dividend for Feb '07 is:

$25 * (31/365) * (0.0205 + 201.8/199.2 - 1) = 7.124 cents.

Looks like some much bigger dividends coming up over the next few months !

At par:

Feb 15 through March 14 -- 4.02% annual rate
March 15 through April 14 - 4.59% annual rate
Arpril 15 though May 14 ---- 4.12% annual rate

I dislike inflation so it's hard for me to hope for higher ISM payouts!

Speaking of computer glitches ...

Just checked bond prices at www.bloomberg.com/markets/rates/index.html,
and they are showing yield on the 5-yr TIPS as 3.08% (price about 97).
This is as of 1902 hrs. Other Treasuries and TIPS durations seem normal.

Did all the people on this board sell their TIPS after we demonstrated that
ISM/OSM is a clearly superior investment ? :D :D :D

Surely Tuesday's action hasn't led to widespread sentiment that inflation
will be negligible between now and 4/15/2011 ?

I don't think anyone demonstarted that. It can't be demonstrated, becasue TIPS have 0 risk and ISM and OSM are A rated securities with unknowable but definitely non-zero risk.

If I had enough money I would use TIPS completely in preference to Sallie Mae. I use part ISM to stretch for yield.

I was half joking. But the 5yr TIPS definitely showed a 3+% yield at about 1am
last night at Bloomberg, dated 19:02 o'clock. They're showing typical 2+% levels
now. Odd.

Damn, it happened again. Check Bloomberg just now (1:40am EST Fri morning)
and it has 5yr TIPS yield as 4+%, price 93+. Even more oddly, "time" is listed
1902hrs, same as last night.

Anybody have any idea what this is ?

Must be a closed after-hours session with special deals for really good TIPS customers, like Ha.

Theres a couple of guys working late over at bloomberg going "Hey! Theres that Shackleford guy online again...put the tips rate up to four percent for a couple of seconds just to wig him out!" <snicker>

Well I sold one of my TIPs bonds it was a 6 figure transaction but I doubt enough to change a market LOL. Although TIPs bonds did jump, undoubtably because of this thread, and the phony flight to quality that bond trader were all talking about.

Buying that much OSM, and ISM with last weeks drama was kinda of interesting (especially cause I was in Maui and not using my home PC). My average price was 21.33 a bit better than the Rabbit offered me.

Hey, its not too late...I still have some that I've been holding JUST for you! :)

Just say the word...

Wow...taking it in the face again today...down .8% at this moment.

Really great buying opp...how low can it goooo...?

I just bought more OSM @ $21.15. It can go ahead and go up now. I think I have plenty.
