I'm currently in that stupid state of mind that hopes that stocks will go down or stay even until I rebalance in January. That is, I'm cheering downturns, although I know they are not in my best interest.

What's so magical about January? Got a crystal ball or what?

Im rebalancing as I go in 401k...no gains to report or other restrictions

Since I'm no longer in the accumulation phase, I don't have the luxury of rebalancing as I go. So I do it once a year, and my rule, to keep me from market timing, is that I do it in January.
