Survey on New Year's Resolutions

Quote:
With a new year just around the corner, many people will resolve to make a fresh start. Going into 2008, among those adults who make New Year's resolutions, more than half (58 percent) of these resolutions will be finance-related, according to a new survey conducted by Harris Interactive(R) on behalf of TD AMERITRADE (NASDAQ:AMTD).

More than one in four adults who make New Year's resolutions say they are more likely to make resolutions having to do with personal finance than they were two years ago. Saving more money is cited as the most popular finance-related New Year's resolution (69 percent) made among adults, followed by paying off debt (57 percent) and reducing spending (46 percent).

While making these resolutions may be a good start, this study revealed that about half (51 percent) of all finance-related resolutions fall by the wayside within a month. Among adults who make such resolutions, women are more likely than men to break their resolutions before the year is out (85 percent vs. 76 percent, respectively).

Interestingly, on a related note, women are also more likely than men to say investing scares them (53 percent vs. 34 percent, respectively).

Let see, I just reviewed my 2007 resolution and on top of my list is being HEALTHY! I'm very grateful to be in good shape with the baby and all..it's been a wonderful year to us. Seeing our close to 6 months old baby sitting down with us for breakfast this morning just make our day simply brighter.

Second on the list is to get back to 120lbs but well I have another 8-10lbs to go. This is a bummer but not such a big deal.

Finance related is at 7th out of 20 but I just close the "book" and rethink of my financial accomplishment this year..it's stellar! Could be 30K higher on investment but it'll get there, just a matter of time.

So another resolution is coming up for 2008...we want another baby! now this is not going to be easy and I dread for the recovery time. As long as we're blessed with good health though, money comes second.

I made a New Year's Resolution several years ago to never make another New Year's Resolution. I've had 100% success in keeping that one!!!

My New Year's Resolution? That's easy. Since my last day of w*rk is Dec. 31st, 2007--my resolution is to never, ever think of w*rk again!
