TA

As opposed to T&A .* Not that it makes any difference in how I invest since I'm not a trader anymore, but I follow a couple of technical analysts' free work.* I particularly like this fellow because he seems to be an educator as well as a skillful chartist.* So if you don't mind poking thru the market's entrails looking for portents and omens, or just are a statistics geek, check out this:

Re: TA

As a reformed chartist, I know someone is either ignorant, a thief or a fool when they bring the subject up.

I did it religiously for over a decade.* I subscribed to newsletters, read books and hung on the words of the enlightened.* I finally decided that TA provided an excellent way to describe what HAD happened in the market and sound very intellectual.* I never saw anyone able to predict what WAS going to happen with any reasonable repeatability.* There was and still are lots of people that will tell you about their killer "proprietary" system but it always involves a transfer of wealth from you to them.* If it was so good, why would they even want to go through the trouble of telling anyone else about it.* They would be living in their many palaces with their "retainers."

If you start to fall under the influence of the "dark side," start following and demanding SPECIFIC future predictions without "hedges."* You'll soon see that smoke and mirrors is alive and well.

Re: TA

TA is like any other market predicting tool.

It will work. Sometimes.

Re: TA

I guess I should be less emphatic with my comments. Technical analysis is just one of those things that seems to be everywhere in the popular financial press and it just doesn't work any better than flipping a coin.

Of course, we can always fall back on annuities and bond funds. I can always be counted on to lash out at them.
