Well we took the plunge. The wife and I decided to close out our 401k's and move it to two rollover IRA's at Vanguard. The process was very smooth and the people were very helpful. We decided to move from TRP because of the expense ratio. The funds available in our 401k's had expense ratio's of .6 -.7. We will be in Vanguard this week and the expense ratio is .17 if I'm reading it right. Considerable savings. Once all the money arrives in Vanguard we will qualify for their highest level of service. I look forward to talking to them, but I will still reserve the right to ignore them and pick my own funds. I'm hoping to be able to move our IRA's from Ameriprise as soon as we can. We've done real well there this year but again the expense ratios are real high. We have to wait until the REIT's mature in another year or two and then it's adios and off to Vanguard.
