This contradicts your first statement, but people have a right to contradict themselves and others on the forum...provided they do so in a reasonably respectable manner.

I don't believe you have knowledge of any PM's I or any other moderator have sent to anyone on the forum asking them modify their behavior, do you?

Moderators on the board have been fortunate in that we've had only an occasional problem poster, at least until recently. Our general philosophy is to ask the offending poster(s) to "tone it down" either privately via PM and/or publicly on the forum if the PM doesn't result in behavior change.

The next step is editing posts, which most moderators have limited patience in undertaking beyond a very short time period. If that doesn't work, we remove the member's ability to post.

It isn't a democracy, we can't please everyone, some may think we take sides, but it's what we've got to work with for now. We are doing our best to keep the forum a place where people want to join into the discussion and we think our statistics on hits and new member growth tell us we're doing OK.

If you are referring to the quotes and links to Howard/Maximillion on other boards, if I could find similar contradicting or inflamatory statements from you or any other poster on another board, I would do the same.

This board was created to seek and share information regarding FIRE, and many people use this forum as a support group to help them make life-changing decisions. If posters are misrepresenting themselves or have a hidden agendas, I would like to think those reading the board should know about it. If you think this is inflammatory, I would only suggest you ask Howard/Maximillion why he made statements on the Boomer board and significanly less consistent posts here.

REWhahoo, you do exhibit definite bias and,as explained at the other site, when the phone rings at 5.30 in the morning and either my wife goes in or some ones Surgery cancelled, she goes in.

A Nurse calls her and says that she has been up all night, could you take my shift, My Wife goes in.

We are collecting multiple pensions and with the Canadian tax Laws, we are not that much further ahead by her working.

Nurses are Nurses because they care, most love their profession, and most feel a responsibility to their team.

My wife's Dad worked evry day until he was 75, they are just not ER's, her family have a very strong work ethic.

Sue them.

You apparently missed the last three or four inflamatory statements howard/max/ made in my direction which I ignored.

If you would, please point to any financial or investment related statement howard/max/ has made that wasnt either completely ridiculous or had any rational basis whatsoever. Just one. On any web site.

95% of what he posts looks like a drunk that didnt get past the fourth grade. The rest isnt that good.

Re: Trans Canada Pipelines (TRP/NYSE).

I would go further to say, we absolutely take sides. *We side with those who have been on the board for a while, have an established post history, and have contributed to the board with a significant percentage of those posts. *

Having said that, I want to make sure you know that includes you, Zipper. *We humble volunteers are trying hard to keep the atmosphere light, friendly, and productive, and we debate just about every moderator action internally before making a move. *That being said, we happen to be half the "alpha" posters on the board, and we are loath to give up our participation just to make us look more moderator-like. *After all, we really like it here! *

So yes, "Alpha Poster" may get more benefit of the doubt than a new poster might, but so do you, so does Cube-Rat, Azanon, WildCat, Brewer, etc.

Max, you've espoused some pretty vitriolic anti-American diatribes here, you raised our concern level, and we have recieved numerous PMs because of it. *Does that mean we may be a little less quick on the trigger to defend you when some one swipes back? *Are we human? *Certainly.

Alpha Poster's opening post on this thread is overly harsh when just taken in context of this thread, but we know it's not meant to be taken in soley that context. *Nonetheless, if Alpha Poster could help make the Moderator group's job a little easier by trying to keep his rebuttals more closely linked to what Max posted at that time, we'd all appreciate it.

Max, I hope this has made it crystal clear as to what behavior on your part is meeting with dissaproval, if not I'll be happy to explain further. *Y'all have a real nice day now! *

Re: Trans Canada Pipelines (TRP/NYSE).

Anyone who takes a single post or thread from context here or anywhere else is clearly going to get the wrong impression.

After dozens of anti-american posts by Howard who then became Maximillion and perhaps others, I got tired of it and gave it back. I may not always be proud of what america does or what some of our butthead leaders say and do, but I'm always proud to be an american.

Anti-american rhetoric is not the topic of this board. Its not a sub topic. Politics in general arent usually warm topics of side discussions. Popping up with "why america sucks" threads and posts is a troll move, I would think in a lot of peoples opinions.

After dealing with this horsepuckey, the name changes, and getting his buddies from other sites to come over and pile on (aka "mike", "mike-1", "limey", etc), and the rash of buffoonery that is interspersed with the anti-american comments, I have no love for howie/maxie.

Apparently that shows.

I'm confused by all this side talk...but it looks like that Alpha Poster guy is in a lot of trouble.

Re: Trans Canada Pipelines (TRP/NYSE).

Dan, I hope realize your tounge was jammed firmly in your cheek when you posted these examples of posts being edited, but I want to make sure no one reading this misunderstands: Whenever anyone edits a post, the software automatically leaves a footnote saying when the post was edited and who edited it. Here is an example:

http://early-retirement.org/forums/i...0998#msg100998

The only execption I am aware of is when a poll is edited, but Dory or BMJ may know of other circumstances.

Looking at your four links implying I modified your posts, I see no indication that anyone but you made changes to them other than the addition of"Viagra" to your poll. And if you look at reply number 18 on that thread, you will see the culprit's confession!

REW - you're saying you never edited my polls or posts? I've had a number of polls where someone I always thought was you changed poll choices - its ok I always thought it was fun.......so If you didn't do this one and then changed it back later - it must be another moderator right?

Re: Trans Canada Pipelines (TRP/NYSE).

Howard is anti-American and anti-teacher. The former is very obvious on this board and the latter on "The Boomer" and "Webring" sites.

I have been pro-American all my life. I do not like Bush and his policies but I stay out of it. Howard is a guest here and needs to refrain from poking Americans in the eye.

I was a teacher for 33 years and resent(ed) his attacks on the other two boards and we had numerous scuffles over the years.

That being said, I think he's made a ton of money on corporates and trusts. From what I gather he has nothing in stocks or funds. He traded up many many times in housing and his net worth is probably multiples of mine.

No way I ever edited one of your posts without the software leaving a footnote saying I did so.

I don't know if I could sit on a witness stand under oath and swear I never pulled your leg by modifying a poll, but I honestly don't remember this one. And I think I would recall it because whoever made the change took a shot at a place near and dear to me.

Whether someone other than a moderator could have made the change...I'm going to have to defer to BMJ or Dory on that one.

Any moderator that gets docked...I'll cover your weeks pay with a 25% bonus for your troubles.

Zipper - I dont have any problems with someone voicing an honest opinion. Howard isnt interested in a debate, he wants to aggravate. Whether he's made money or not and how he's made it is irrelevant to me. I havent seen him show a thing that would be helpful to others. Whatever ill feelings you might harbor for me for whatever reasons, have you seen anyone ask for help and not get some from me? Have you ever seen me say anything bad about anyone who didnt start it?

I aint perfect, but I try to give better than I get. For better and worse.

Heck, I even took 25 minutes out of my morning to have a fake fight with Laurence so he'd have something to laugh about while he was on a conference call.

Re: Trans Canada Pipelines (TRP/NYSE).

We had a guy at the old boomer who was 10x's worse than Howard ever was.

He got everybody going, including me.

He was a master sh*t disturber and one of the reasons why I don't go there anymore. Whatever way a thread was going he would take an opposing view and gum it up. I'm sure he got off on yanking people's chains.

I have no ill will against you CFB. In fact I'm in love with your topheavy former avatar.

I've already told Howard to shut the f*ck up once and I promised to leave it at that.

Maybe we both need to go to the penalty box.
