We have $$ in 3 firms. TRowe has deferred $$, Fido has taxable, Roth, and rollover mutual funds, and individual stocks in Schwab brokerage account. I would like to move the Schwab stocks to Fido to simplify, consolidate, and make moving $$ between stocks and funds easier. Can I move/transfer custody of my stock ownership from Schwab to Fido -without having to sell - take a tax hit - and repurchase?

Absolutely. Just make sure you specify that they are to transfer the existing positions rather than sell and transfer funds.

It's an "in-kind" transfer. You may have to pay a transfer fee to Schwab, but many brokerages waive the fee if you have enough assets with them.

Thanks! This is good to know. I had only heard of this for deferred funds.
