Vanguard is eliminating investor shares on the index funds and converting them to Admiral Shares. The conversion will be done automatically sometime in the next year. Supposedly, you can do it yourself on-line.

But don't log in to do it yourself today. I have an old IRA and I was told my accounts there were not eligible. Typical Vanguard screw-up, will wait to see if the software folks clean it up.

Will this be available to mutual fund accounts (ie legacy system) or only to VBS (brokerage) customers?

Haven't seen anything specifically on that. Since the investor shares are being eliminated, I would guess yours would be converted.
