Also like this one -

"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for."

I achieve true happiness whenever we empty out a closet.

Our kid is threatening to empty our house when she sets up her first place after college, and she can't believe how easily we agree to her "threat". She thinks she's getting the better part of the deal!

Anyone out there looking for gently-used dressage tack? I'll make you a great deal...

Oh man! We spent a year getting rid of all the excess stuff we really didn't need. It was great! I never imagined I would be so happy to see all the "stuff" go!

I cant do it anymore. We have way too much crap after colliding a 4500+ square feet of two homes into under 2000. But every time I throw something out that I havent used for 5 years, I almost immediately have a need for it and have to go rebuy it.

Realllly pisses me off.

But it's usually lighter, cheaper, has more features, and runs on an internal battery instead of an electrical cord, right?

Most of my power-tool enhancements depend on this "upgrade" system. Without it I'd still be using Craftsman screwdrivers & a 1950s drill.

No, its usually the same @^$%#$ thing.

Case in point: I had one of those wireless remote senders. Hadnt used it in over 5 years, maybe 7. Sold it at a yard sale for a couple of dollars. Two weeks later, I had a very defined need for a wireless remote sender. Fifty bucks at radio shack and it didnt work as well as the old one did. It was about 10% smaller though... :P

I sure hope you don't need to have YOUR brushes sanded or replaced every year... are you variable speed, reversible, & chuckless too?

I think the reason my father gave me that drill was so that he'd have an excuse to buy a new one, too. I never heard him wax maudlin about it.

Then as soon as you throw it out, just go get it again and put it back were it was.

I'm a terrible packrat. And it's now total chaos around here with S. O. officially moving in. There just is no where to put his stuff without me throwing away half of mine.... sigh. The things we do for love.

Yeah, know what you mean. I was packing up G's closet yesterday and thinking how I would like to throw most of it in the garbage.... but I had to realize that would open the door to my "good stuff" following it. I don't see why we need his Van Halen cassette tapes, when we have my Jim Croce ones.

And neither of us will part with our hundreds of pounds of vinyl, although we don't own a working turntable between us (yet).

I don't see how this relationship could ever possibly work out, even with Dr. Phil on speed-dial...

I love to watch Dr. Phil, just because I feel so much better about my own life afterward. We've both "matured" in our musical tastes, so I think there's hope... What were YOU listening to in 1976??
