Yes, our board now has a bonded treasurer, but had to learn the hard way. Cost of the annual bonding is not large, and obviously well worth it.

You might want to change that to 'don't handle sensitive information'. Of course that becomes very restrictive. Misappropriation of sensitive info often is more damaging than embezzlement.
