Add me to the naps and errands sentiments. I can take daily naps (ooh, it's nearly time for today's nap LOL!) and I find myself "waiting" 2 days to do errands once I hit Saturday because I abhor the crowds in the stores.

Around here it does matter. The grocery stores can't sell wine before 1:00 PM on Sundays. So sometimes I have to keep track of what day it is and what time.

I recall that even in my childhood. Football games over and
the clock on 60 minutes would sound off on the tv. I always had
an ugh feeling...

I ran into the wife of a former coworker today at the grocery store. I asked her where her husband was. She said "work". I was somewhat stunned and then I remembered that some people work and don't get out during weekdays.

You know, your post got me to thinking. You (and others) have mentioned that damn ticking clock for the show. It also brings back terrible memories of the Sunday blues...all the back to when I was a wee little tyke still in elementary school. So, couple that with all the terrible stories that are on that show...how in the world has it been on for SO LONG?!? I don't think I have EVER heard anyone tell a GREAT story about something on 60 Minutes outside of Andy Rooney which if I recall was about 60 seconds of the ENTIRE hour-long show.

Here's one: Ed Bradley interviewing Lena Horne. It doesn't get much better than that.
I still hate the ticking clock, though!

Well, that interview was in 1981...when I was 7 years old. I stick with my original hypothesis that the show is pure evil.

You know, I had a funny reaction yesterday afternoon. After thanksgiving dinner (early in the day), I took my Dad's dog for a walk. He lives in the same house as when I was in school, and as I got up to where I used to catch the bus, I thought about the Sunday blues and how terrible they were as a child. Even though I last stood at that stop in 1982, I remember it like it was yesterday and I could still distinctly remember the dread. So, next time I walk the dog, we're going the other way...

We've been FIREd for 2 years. Living in the same city we spent last 25 years in, we'd run into former coworkers all the time... neighbors all knew us as the folks that formerly worked at ..... and .....
Fast forward to our recent (6 week) move to a retirement community 60 miles away. Everyone is so friendly and most of our neighbors went out of their way to introduce themselves. We've been in their homes, sat at their dinner tables, played dominos together, had cocktails with them, accompanied them to the local diners, drive ins and dives..my DW won the neighborhood chili cookoff a week after we moved in... all this social activity in a very short period of time. It's been wonderful making great new friends.
I still don't know what several of them did for a living before they moved here. It just hasn't come up in conversations. The ones that I know what company they worked for, I have no clue what they actually did. It's not important.
Not having to associate your w*rk past with your real life. To me, that's really being FIREd...

Very true. Many folks associate what they do with who they are - particularly those who spent decades climbing to the tops of their professions. Yet when you're retired, you don't really care what your friends used to do for a living because it's not relevant to what really matters - your friendship.
