Your auto- what you're driving now

2006 Honda Accord EXL. 150KM, 93K miles. Purchased used in 2009. We only use it about 7 months a year.

Expect to keep it for another 10 years at this rate. Great car, very happy with it.

I drive a 2013 Honda Ridgeline 25k miles, wife drives a 2006 Impala 80k miles, which will probably be replaced in the next year or two.

1998 Toyota 4Runner w/ 193K (Bought used in 2002 w/ 45K)
2002 Toyota Tundra w/ 100K (Bought used in 2003 w/ 9K)
2001 Porsche Boxster S w/ 78K (Bought used in 2009 w/ 54K)

Looking at replacing 4Runner in the next 2 years. Probably with another 4Runner.

2007 Subaru Impreza, only has 87k kilometers (54k miles)...it's barely broken in. It has AWD and heated seats, perfect for a Canadian winter.

It's not that exciting but a 2007 Infiniti M45. It's black and it's getting detailed today. It's a low mileage car so still looks good and looks especially good with a fresh coat of wax and a polish. Wooooo whooooooo!!!!!

Have a '97 BMW 318ti (buttless bimmer) with cloth California roof down south. Feels really fast at low speeds.
Up north we sold off her E30 BMW and my much loved 2000 BMW 528it wagon with 325k miles. Now driving a 2008 BMW 328it, which is ok, but not the car the old wagon was. Looking for a second car to leave here so we are both mobile and have car failure backup. No comment on the unfinished '56 Chevy 210 wagon that has sucked up tens of thousands of dollars and is taking up huge amounts of garage space.

Company minivan for me

-2008 Infiniti G37 coupe. Wonderful car. Haven't yet seen one that makes me want to replace it.
-1998 Toyota 4Runner. I made a bunch of excuses for why it made sense to keep it, but those haven't really materialized. Basically I just like it, and can afford the cost of ownership.

I wonder how many FIRE's like me, have never bought a brand new car, never will and have never had a car payment. It is one of my golden rules......

My daily driver is an '84 Fiero with 116000 miles.
DW drives the '09 Toyota Camry with 46000 miles.
And the spare is a '99 Tahoe with 168000 miles.

Only car payment I had was when I bought the Jeep. Local bank had a financing deal, and I got an additional $1k off the price if I financed. I financed the purchase, and after the first payment cleared my bank, I paid off the balance (salesman got an additional sales bonus if I kept the loan for over a month).

for me it depends on the deal I get. when I brought my latest car the deal was 0% financing. put 1/3 down, got zero % financing and left my 25K invested getting interest. payment didn't pinch my budget so it was good.

Generally speaking I don't buy a new car until it's at least 5 years old.

2012 Toyota Rav4. 51000km (32k miles). Walking to work for 3 years helped keep that number low...

Love it. Plan on keeping it the full 10 years. Bought it new from the factory in Cambridge, Ontario configured the way I wanted it (moon roof).

I figure by the time I am ready in 6 years for a new vehicle that technology will have marched on and the next vehicle will be electric (assuming battery storage and range have increased to the circa 1000km mark)

In April we decided to try one car for the two of us. We sold two 11 year old cars and just purchased a 2016 Nissan Murano SL, which now has 1100 miles on it. We also bought a used golf cart to putz around our community looking for wildlife at dusk. Lots to see.

We almost bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5, but were offered a much better deal at Nissan so took it.
