My contract required 90 days notice with a loss of some financial benefits if I did not provide said notice. Someone brought up the other side: if I had been fired without cause my contract required the organization to provide a 1 year severance. An interim was named; but, the search for a permanent replacement continues. I think 90 days was reasonable but I wouldn't have been happy to be a "Dead Man Walking" for much longer! As it was, the CEO kept my departure confidential until about 45 days out.

By all means get your bonus in hand. Given the contractual 30 day min, stating 30 days with an offer to stay longer if desired for transition would seem very accommodating to me if you wanted to go that far.

Doing things today that others won't, to do things tomorrow that others can't. Of course I'm referring to workouts, not robbing banks.
