#26 up there (my DH) is getting very excited! He's set to give notice the end of the month and leave the industry he's worked in since he was 18 years old. Although he's not on here, he's been the beneficiary of much knowledge from this forum and we are both grateful for it.
I'm not sure yet if this will be more of a long sabbatical for him where he finds something else interesting to do in a year or so, or whether he'll be converting fully to being an employee of Sarah, Inc. for the duration. 
He'll have a tough adjustment, I think, once we return from our trip. I think it really won't hit him until he's back home, with no work schedule forced on him. I'm thrilled for him, and glad that the hard work we've done has brought us to this opportunity.

Very cool! One thing I'll probably never experience is the "countdown" -- having a known date well into the future and anticipating its arrival. (Unless you look at a "three day" countdown from April 2, the day I was told I was being pushed out the door, to April 5, the day the pushing occurred.)
Same here. Right now I'm content with being the "preacher's wife". We'll see how I feel in a couple of months and how our cash flow is doing. And if I still like just being in that role and we're burning too quickly through our savings, we'll reevaluate our budget and/or any other ways for me to earn a few bucks if necessary. But for now I'm still enjoying it. I've reached the point where I've stopped remembering what day of the week it is! DW and I went grocery shopping on Monday afternoon and it felt odd being so uncrowded, and where most of the other customers looked to be retired or SAHMs with infants and toddlers in tow.

My last day of work was Friday (but I am taking Monday and Tuesday as vacation days). We went to the California redwoods to celebrate both retirement and my 56th birthday (today). Unfortunately I woke up with the flu, had an 8 hour car ride back to Portland, then proceeded to lose my wallet about 2 hours south of Portland.
So, I have been on the phone cancelling credit cards and trying to figure out how to get new library, mass transit, insurance, etc. cards... What I really want to do is get into bed.
The good news is we had no car problems and most of all we made it home safely. This is just a minor annoyance.

DH has been keeping his quitting kinda quiet, but today a salesgirl from his company came to my office for a sales call with the company we sublet space from. The office manager over there said, " oh so you know Sarah and her DH? Well did you know they are driving a school bus from London to Mongolia this summer?" Fml. So that cat is out of the bag a wee bit early! He'd planned on a month notice but looks like it'll be six weeks instead! Not exactly what we'd planned but who knew the local nosey Parker would feel the need!
