My main task today was to draft an announcement telling the office that I am retiring as a partner on Monday. Needless to say, it is a great announcement.

Still on for 12/20/2013 but today had a big cash outlay of $3100 for an ill dog. More to come and another dog that needs surgery soon. Thinking I may have to add 6 months onto my retirement date but waiting to see how it all turns out. Love my mutts and would rather spend the remainder of their time with them and not at w*rk

+1

I'm on the couch with mine, who's laying upside down on his back...dreaming. Wish he could live as long as I do.

I've decided to add my name to the class of 2013, although I need help actually adding my name... On February 6th, I left my job and semi-retired. We have a small portfolio of rental properties that I now manage, after firing DW. :-). I turned 50 in July, so I met a goal that I set long ago. Even though I consider myself semi-retired I've decided to add myself to this year's class as I could either sell our assets, or hire a management company and we could get by minimally. I'll take care of our properties for a few years, and dabble with flipping houses for some extra cash until we totally retire, which will most likely be when our kids (ages 11 and 9) are off to college.

last day is Monday!

On Monday I will be turning it all in and getting a ride home. So far the transition is going well and I'm feeling great about the timing.

Yes and No

We will be doing some traveling here and there, working on the house making it ready to rent, and doing some serious tryouts of living in the islands. We can't decide if we like Kauai or the Big Island best, but having a ball figuring it out.

And done.

Today was my last day.

Overjoyed to have crossed the finish line, although still a bit nervous about keeping myself mentally and physically stimulated.

Thanks.

Yes. I've been here for over 20 years and DW and her family are from HK so I plan to stay here long term, possibly some more travelling once I have finished the MFA in a couple of years.

Cheers
