Well, I guess they could keep working you 'till you dropped. Then, for sure, you wouldn't be an early retiree. Again, congratulations ! I'm happy for you.

I can officially join this thread. I work for a nonprofit and told the board president today that I will leave in June. I've been there a very long time, so they will have time to replace me. I am 63, which isn't as young as many, but still a few years earlier than I expected to be able to retire. 🎉

If someone not on the list wants to grab spot #26 on the list - feel free. I jumped the queue and retired in June 2014. I forgot I was on this list.

If anyone is so inclined, I will take rodi's spot on the list. I just bailed on 2016 and moved my retirement date to December 30 or 31st of this year.

I don't care where I am on the list, as long as I'm officially on it.😃 I don't tell the rest of our board members and coworkers until next week, but I am so happy to have officially told my "boss". I feel so much lighter.

My plan may be changing but for the better . I had planned to make it the first week of July so that I'm not working when I turn 56 later in the month. But my company is undergoing a change and I'm not sure I want to bother learning new procedures/specs for a month or 2 of work. The change is expected to be completed end of March so we will see as there is still some HC related stuff I do want to get out of the way (and get my 401K maxed out) before I leave. But it is looking more possible that it might be earlier than later. I won't know a whole lot more before April though but I'm already looking at my schedule and seeing what needs to be accelerated

I'm printing out my resignation letter every morning, with that day's date on it, and taking it to work with me, ready to sign and hand in.

Even though I don't plan on handing it in until February, preparing it each day is my way of giving myself permission to hand it in early if something happens that day that overruns my BS bucket.

I like having an ace up my sleeve.

If only my manager knew it was there in my little manilla folder in my laptop bag...

Now that I have officially announced my plans to retire to my boss and HR, I will officially add myself to the 2015 roster. It's still a bit surreal, but seeing the end in sight has been extremely uplifting. My official date will be March 1st. Can't wait 😄

Had my retirement luncheon today with the countdown to 1.31.15 with my last day at the office being 1.29.15. The luncheon was a nice part of closure for me.

The plan is coming together . . . dropped my notice for a January 30 retirement and informed my staff. Closed on the house in Florida two days ago. Accepted an offer on my current house, contingent on the home inspection this afternoon (fingers crossed). Will spend the first two weeks of February packing and cleaning and drive south on February 16. If no issues with the home inspection, closing the sale of my current house is February 20, but the Realtor can handle it for me. On February 17 I should be unloading and unpacking in Florida and busier than I have been lately getting moved in and set up. When that's done, maybe I'll experience what retirement is REALLY like!

I have all my ducks in a row and my wife and I are both set to retire next Friday, Jan 23rd (I'm already on the list). Jan 23rd, not coincidentally, is also my 50th birthday. Happy birthday me!!

Beltonr, Florida sounds great right now! I'm so tired of winter already.

Utrecht, retiring on a milestone birthday like that is amazing! Congrats to you and your wife!
