I have developed OMY syndrome and am moving myself from April 2015 to March 2016 so that I can say less then one year to go.

Just reaching one year to Independence Day, which will be the end of April 2016. I will have some vacation to use in 2016, so I may not have to w*rk all the way until the end of April. It is nice to be able to say one year, but it still seems faaar away.

My wife gave her notice a month ago that her last day will be March 1, 2016. Leading a large IT project - should be done this fall but going to give enough time to make sure all the loose ends are wrapped up. Plus that is 1 day after her 5 year anniversary at this company so it gets her the full 401k match.

Her boss is already in a tizzy about it. The latest was "we are going to do an IT Re-Org - name your dream job" and my wife said "retired"

Still on target for 12-31-16 but then I already have reduced my schedule to 30 hours per week until then.

Life at Newco post-merger has led to the point where I am done. Formally notified my manager(s) last week and this week again (in writing) .. working out last day, but will be sometime in July, I think.

I'm transferring to the class of 2016. I was originally scheduled to go May 2015 but the boss talked me into staying OMY so my new date will be May 2016! I will be 60. Not that early of a retirement but I took a long break (9 years) during my working years which I enjoyed but it set me back in accumulating. Anyway this gives me another year to save. We are FI but it's always good to have a cushion especially since it is so hard to find any yield these days and the bull market is bound to run into the Bears soon.

Let's hope that the market has some good years until then....
I am in the same boat. Original plan was late 2015 before I turned 55. However, it appears it will be March of 2016. Not a problem as I still really love my job and the people I work with. However, I love the thought of hitting the open road in my RV for months at a time or spending my days exercising, managing my investments, volunteering, taking classes or simply hanging out with my DW and friends even more. So here's to March 2016, perhaps in time for a really good St Paddy's Day.

Congratulations to your wife on locking in her retirement date. Sounds like we will be retiring at about the same time, fingers crossed in my case. However, I must say that I have yet to see an IT person who gets retirement right on the first try. They ride off into the sunset alright but seems like within a year they get pulled back in for "just one more project" or so it seems. Perhaps she will be the exception or if not it will be because someone made her an offer she could not refuse. At any rate good luck to you both.

Hi Class of 2016,
Above is a quote of a post I made in the Class of 2017 thread awhile back. Apparently ignorance has prevailed. DW has hit the end of her tolerance with the BS bucket at w*rk. After a long discussion this past weekend going over facts and figures we have decided to set a firm, rock solid, unchangeable, do or die, tentative retire date of June 1, 2016.

Deducting vacation & holidays that would be 206 days to go but I'm not really paying close attention at this point.
Why is it so dang scary to set a date?

Today my 365 countdown begins! (I'm counting the calendar days to my last day in the office - still will get paid out some months for vacation after that.)

Putting a line in the sand (no more OMY) so I'm starting the 2016 list in the format used for other years. Feel free to add on!

1. Willers - 1/31/16

I was one of the first people on the Class of 2015 list, but sadly had to do a OMY and move myself to Class of 2016.

So...

1. Willers - 1/31/16
2. Rdub - 5/1/16 age-46
3. tennisno1 - 3/1/16
4. LoneAspen - 6/1/16 age 49
