Last time I'll have to worry about time off for a holiday! Hopefully the last time I will go through feeling guilty if I am sick and have to miss w*rk. I have been waiting for 2017 for 29 years. Happy to see the end of 2016 and all of the stressors we have lived through. Here's hoping for the affordable healthcare in 2017 as this has become the big uncontrolled variable in our plans to retire June 2017.

 

[Indigo Mule]

My last December at work is done and dusted, as I vacation between Xmas and New Year's. Hurrah! When I return in January, I dive into the last budget development cycle (which is the focus of my work between January and July).

I am professional at work, but I no longer take anything personally. It is freeing, and lightens my load of work-related stress exponentially. When dealing with a high-maintenance administrator last week, I smiled sincerely because I knew that I will never again have to deal with them in December.

Class of 2017 could be a very large class. I count 55 "seniors." Class of 2016 has 67 graduates but there were only 36 listed at the beginning of 2016.

Happy 2017 Classmates! I have been waiting for this year to arrive for quite awhile. 4 months and thirty days to go! Healthcare is the one wild card and my fingers are crossed that Obamacare or something similar survives. I could also do Cobra and so I'm hoping we'll have a better idea of what remains of the ACA by the time I finalize my severance in June. Super bad timing to have healthcare become a big question mark again but we are going to take the leap regardless. We can always go back to our pre ACA plan which was to start some small business in order to write off insurance premiums for the two of us.
