Costco Health Insurance?

Found an old thread where I learned Costco offered Dental, but only in California.

Looked around more at Costco.com and they also offer health insurance in about 25 states:

https://www.costcoquote.com/California/

Plugged in the numbers and got over 30 results, more than coveredca.com.

A lot of plans at the different metal levels and from carriers that weren't in the CA web site.

Anyone dig through these?

Thanks for posting this.

I am in CA and I checked out Costco dental offers. I see BCBS offers a plan for family of 4 with $53 a month. That might be something we may look into after we go with ACA.

Apparently, for 2015 Costco (or rather CBC Benefits) now offers private individual HI plans in 40 states.

You do not have to be a Costco member to get a quote, although you do to enroll.
Unfortunately, the quote I was given (not in CA but in Midwest) was not helpful. Far fewer Plan choices than on the Exchange, and as far as I could tell the available Plans were significantly more $$ than equivalent Exchange Plans (i.e. same carrier/deductible/OOPmax). Not enough info to really compare networks though.
I'm currently a Costco member, but at least in my region I do not see that saving on HI is a specific reason to join.

Instead of "Costco Health Insurance" it looks to me like Costco has simply contracted with an Insurance Broker which resells insurance policies from other companies on commission.

From the Costco Services page (http://www.costco.com/services.html ) when I click on Costco Health Insurance Marketplace I get a warning popup.

This site you are transferring to is not hosted by Costco. The site is hosted by a valued Costco supplier.

Near the bottom of that site's Available states page (https://www.costcoquote.com/indv-com...ilable-states#) I see the disclaimer.

Quote:

Your insurance policy, not the information on this site, determine the applicable terms and conditions of the insurance product. Attention: This website is operated by Custom Benefit Consultants, Inc. (CBC). This is not the public Health Insurance Marketplace website available under the federal Affordable Care Act and related state laws. This website is for the private health insurance marketplace available to Costco members. Costco Insurance Agency, Inc. is a licensed insurance agent. Insurance plans are offered by licensed insurance companies or health maintenance organizations. Health insurance plans on the Costco Health Insurance Marketplace are brokered and /or serviced by CBC Benefit & Insurance Services; CA License #: 0D75486 and Costco Wholesale Corp. License #: 0C28248. Costco Insurance Agency License #: 0D08407.

...
While I love the Costco Pharmacy, I think I'll pass on further exploring "Costco Insurance" at this time.
