Two of my children also had to take the TOEFL. I think a fair chunk of US born and raised college kids couldn't pass it.

Rich, working with people that are motivated to learn English can be very rewarding. I hope this is a positive experience for you.

I think you are correct about this. I think the same can be said of the citizenship test folks have to take. Many years ago I worked for an immigration attorney, and many of our clients were studying for the citizenship exam. I remember seeing the questions, and being very glad I didn't have to pass the test!
