Escape Artist dead?

Has anyone else noticed that the Escape From America on-line magazine at the Escape Artist web site has not been updated since Oct '07?

Escape From America Magazine Index For Volume Nine Issue Number Ten October 2007

I have always found their articles entertaining (but I sure wouldn't make any life-changing decisions based on them).

I used to read them for awhile.... but slowly left them....

I do not remember the last time I even looked...

I do remember reading an article about the 'owner' of the site... the US was trying to get him on fraud or some other crime... wished I could rememer this one, but it was a quick read and I just thought it was a bit funny considering the title of the site...

Funny - I don't think I have received anything from that website (I signed up for the mailing list a long time ago, more out of amusement than anything else) but I just got something for the first time in a long while on July 4.

Me too on the July 4th issue. I had forgotten about it, especially since it had turned into more of a real estate sales and advertising newsletter than an expatriot information letter. The current issue looks a little better, though. It's out there under EscapeArtist Home Page: Living Overseas - International Real Estate, Overseas Jobs - Expatriate Resources - Overseas Retirement.

I used to read it when it was more of an expat info source, but when I started having to wade through fraudulent get rich quick schemes, I decided I'd had enough. I haven't looked at it in a while. They always struck me as untrustworthy.

This thread inspired me to take another look, and I found this strange short article warning people how easy it is to run out of money in the Phillipines:

Living In The Philippines Running Out of Money

I want to know the story behind that article!

I wonder how the "daytime maid" in the bare-bones budget lives on $40 a month.. maybe she only works a half-day?

Doggies! Look what I found:

Escape From America Magazine | Index

Thanks to the Tepic and Nayarit, Mexico, Journal

THE TEPIC AND NAYARIT, MEXICO JOURNAL: June addition of the 'Escape from America Magazine'...

I swear it wasn't there a couple of days ago.

Yep. Roger Gallo appears to be one shady character.
