"How Healthy Is Your State?" survey

The top three are New Hampshire, Vermont, & Hawaii.

The criteria are mainly the availability of medical/health care and the presence of safe habits. (No wonder HPD has been on a seatbelt campaign.)

Jeez. We drink too much, smoke too much, are careless
about seatbelts, and I seldom wear a helmet on the motorcycle. We probably eliminated Illinois from the running
all by ourselves

Re: "How Healthy Is Your State?" survey

The downside to these surveys is that large states are at a disadvantage to smaller states. I'm sure there are parts of texas and california far larger than new hampshire that would knock it out of first place.

After living in MA for 32 years and CA for 10, I also seriously question that MA is a more healthful state to live in. If for no other reasons than a lot more people smoke and eat crappy food in MA, and a lot more people do more outside year round in CA vs sitting inside for 4 months watching the snow pile up in MA.

My parents have only been here for 2 1/2 years and already by better diet and more outside stuff year round are far healthier than they were.

Re: "How Healthy Is Your State?" survey

Well, I do eat pretty healthy and watch my weight, etc
so I am not trying for "lifestyle suicide". Regarding
spending time outdoors, I am extremely outdoorsy
as is my wife. Of course, then you have to beware
of wild critters, West Nile virus, Lyme disease and skin cancer. It's
always something.
