Independence Day: One Year Later

Tomorrow is my ER anniversary It's been a ride to be sure. With the illness and death of my father in law, things didn't go exactly like I'd planned, but it still beats working! Rather than rewrite what I've already written on my blog, I'll just provide a link for those that are interested. No membership, not selling anything, no spam. Just my blog. You can find it here.

Also wanted to say that I appreciate all the help and support throughout the last year and even before. Great group of people on these forums. You've all made my retirement just a little bit better. Who, besides my DW, would put up with all my bloviating and rambling?

Hope everyone has a great 4th.

Happy Retirement Anniversary! Just think - - the whole country is celebrating with you. Enjoy the fireworks.

I don't go anywhere near fireworks. Too many people. I was up at Lake Tahoe today looking at a Jeep that I ended up buying (happy anniversary to me!) and its a mad house. Cars lining the highway, chairs and blankets reserving any open space they can find. Ug!

As of right now, I plan to retire July 5, 2014 so Independence Day three years hence will be memorable for me, too.

Enjoy your new Jeep! I can imagine - - all those worker bees escaping to Tahoe for their long weekend, before heading back to the salt mines. Sights like that make me glad I am retired.

You have a way with words. That's exactly it. A rushed, crowded, hardly relaxing weekend and then back to work for the thankfully short week. The only reason I remember holidays are to avoid going out as much as possible.

However, my son was up there also working with my brother in law and he was glad to see all the scantily clad young girls. For my part, I didn't notice
