Investing for 25 yo

I need to help my daughter to invest $8-10 K. I am trying to teach her to invest for a long term. One thing that I thought of - VIT, but really would like to hear other people ideas.

Thx

Along with diversification, a little dollar-cost-averaging tossed in along the side
