Anybody get Kiplinger's magazine for the month? They list all the places empty nesters and retirees should live. I guess the retiree catagory is for those of us who are or feel half-dead. But it's interesting, anyway.
Their suggestions for empty-nesters: San Francisco; Seattle; Madison, Wis.; Charleston, W.Va., Boulder.
Suggestions for retirees: Tampa Bay, Fla.; Pittsburgh; Harrisburg, Pa.; Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Roanoke, Va.

REW's & Ol' Rancher's "Texas Defamation League" bought a couple million in ad pages for that issue, and as a result they were able to whisper in a few editorial ears...

Yep,
Ebola in central Texas has been found to be carried by the chiggers, especially those in Texas Hill Country. Not to worry, one can just spread some kerosene over the tops of your boots and at the cuffs of your work shirt sleeves. Haven't you ever noticed that NO one who works in Texas brush wears shorts or a short sleeved shirt even in the summer heat?
Yee Haw!

Not saying that Texas is wonderful, that's for sure, but it sure is booming now... and slated to keep booming.
I just thought it was odd that there was no city listed from Texas worth moving to. But, then again, it IS a whole 'nother country. They aren't kidding in their ads with that slogan. It is.

I suppose now is as good a time as any to post a photo of a typical resident of this "whole 'nother country". This native Texan is a disbarred attorney (true) who reportedly came to be in this condition due to repeated scorpion stings and rattlesnake bites. Of the thousands stricken with Ebola here on a daily basis, he is believed to be one of the few who survived the disease.

I suppose I could have misunderstood this guy since it was very noisy at Arky Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon. I thought he said he was running "from" the governor, but I suppose he could have said "for". Guess it could be since Perry is believed to wear a tie 24/7. But I thought Perry had more hair?

REW, I thought he was the guy who took our lunch order at the meeting of the San Antonio chapter of the ER board a couple months ago.
But it was hard to tell among all the other cowboy hats, bandannas, suspenders, work shirts, moustaches, & beards scattered among the clientele. And a lot of the men had them too.

Don't forget the endemic meningitis (bacterial, the worst kind IIRC) swath in Texas as another stay-away item. That is not a joke.
I suggest anyone contemplating moving to Texas come visit for a while, first. Strike up conversations with the natives. A good conversation starter is to turn to a guy next to you, and say "Phew! You smell worse than a I-35 rest stop!!!"

It turns out that "dude"has a totally different context over there.
I tried not to get too far away from REWahoo in case one of them scorpions, fire ants, tarantulas, rattlesnakes, or ebolas leaped out of a dark corner and bit me in the assets...
