Living above his means

I guess this could be posted in FIRE and money but it just HAS to be posted somewhere.

This retired snowbird has $80,000 in credit card debt after liquidating his retirement portfolio to be friendly with women.

Kegley went through his life savings, about $200,000, in a year.
at a swr of 4%, everybody knows that nest egg doesn't buy poconos hookers. at best it might buy a 2 minute thrill outside the lincoln tunnel. yikes.

this guy is creepy from day one. the only sad part of this story is that it took his wife 40 years to figure that out. he doesn't even take responsibility that he got involved with prostitutes because it is life's fault for handing him a telephone number. then he got sucked into a lifestyle with which he continued until he blew through $80k more than the mere $200k he had? give it a rest, grandpa.

when he could no longer pay real money, he found lower forms of prostitutes who apparently barter for home depot lumber. there's a pretty picture. when he could no longer even barter with groceries, they started shaking him down for used computer parts. those must have been some pretty prostitutes.

he's run out of both cash and barter. now that he can't afford more sex, he decides that no one should be able to buy it either so he calls the cops to ruin it for everyone, even for those who both enjoy prostitutes and who live below their means. this guy is a creep among creeps. i only hope that the cops charged him for their services too. he tried getting prostitution services for free. that's called stealing. the prostitute who took his computer wasn't stealing. that's called collecting on a bill due. this guy is not a victim; he is an accomplice.

i've got a friend who only enjoys sex with much younger guys who he could never have if he didn't play sugar daddy. he's "only" 53 and in pretty good shape with a youngish face. most of the guys don't realize just how old he is. one found out the other night and not a shopping spree at nordstroms would keep that kid's feet from running.

my friend lives fast and hard and assumes he'll be dead by age 69 so this poconos problem will not be his later in life. for now he continues to work a stressful job so that he can afford his vices. it's kind of sad but he's never found people his own age attractive so he knows he'll be stuck paying for it for as long as he wants it.

the huge difference between my friend and this guy is my friend knows what he's doing and doesn't fool himself. my friend isn't a creep. he's just a guy with a fetish.

My motivation was that most of the girls had kids, many with deadbeat dads. Sure, I got something out of it, but for the price, it's a pittance. I was addicted to escort services because I care about these girls.
pin it on everybody but yourself. creepy creepy creepy.

Howard took his retirement stash - bought a big charter fishing boat(used) and got his captains charter - lasted a yr and a half or so. Boat sank at the dock one night(sad story).

At age 73, I worked with him last jobshopping stint in 96.

heh heh heh - not the same as sex but you can get 'hooked'. I know I know .

The article reads like a subscriber tutorial for their DIY customers... thanks, very informative!

I just can not picture the Poconos as a hot bed for this activity . My Mother lives in Wilkes Barre so I know the area and it's filled with senior citizens that sure don't look like they are up to any hooking .

I bet a lot of people in Wilkes-Barre are hoping this guy's phone records aren't supoena'd...

I chuckle every time I see the Wilkes-Barre sign in the opening credits of "The Office".

Hey, give the guy a break. We all need a hobby and some are expensive.

Picture in the paper...obviously toasted and his address in the article. Talk about all of your business being out there. Wanna bet his ears are burning.

And as for Mr. Pocono with all the free stuff out there his game must be pretty lame. It is not that hard. He must have been looking for something um,"specific" in the technique department that he had to pay to get.

Guy made poor choices. I feel sorry for him. Married 40 years then divorced alone. I wont judge.

I wonder if he is paying alimony and child support? Maybe this is one of those difficult cases where he felt he had almost nothing left anyway, after his payments.

Uh... the guy's 69 years old. No offense to any other senior citizens out there, but I can't fathom what kind of "game" would enable a borderline septuagenarian to regularly "partner" with twenty-somethings.

Maybe we just find it annoying that they choose to seek him out instead of us...
