Yes, I guess it's by design that the ball goes a bit slow. It's OK that it goes slow when I hit lightly, but it still bothers me that it doesn't accelerate in speed the way I expect when I hit it hard. It does give me time to get to the ball even when I don't dash out right away. I have a feeling I will enjoy it once I become too old to play tennis. It's good to have a backup, for sure, and you can play pickleball indoors and that helps in the winter time here in Canada
