Regional Personality Traits (WSJ article)

Hopefully, I can get this link to work for you. This is from today's (9/23/08) Wall St. Journal, and, for those who don't get the WSJ, I thought you might enjoy it. Takes awhile sometimes to load up, but the interactive map is an eyeopener:
The United States of Mind -

Please consider adopting a rescue animal. So very many need a furr-ever home and someone to love them! And if we all spay/neuter our pets there won't be an overpopulation to put to death.

Wow, we DC'ites are #1 on openness and #3 on extraversion, but #50 on agreeableness (the later 2 don't surprise me).

I don't put much stock in studies that treat states as a whole. Many states cover a large geographical area, and are diverse in how people think and feel.

It would work better in broken into regions.
