The good news is you'll still be allowed to vote in Chicago for years to come...

My old stomping grounds are a bit south of there, but have spent a fair amount of time in the general neighborhood.

You'll be within a few miles of the Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville. This is a medium sized venue which attracts a number of decent acts at (relatively) reasonable prices.

Wander east or south of your chosen new home and you should be safe if a bit bored. I wouldn't go west or north, but then I wouldn't go to Mexico right now either. YMMV.

It's a nice town, but hard to know how to answer you as it's such a radical change from Chicago.

And don't forget to leave some stuff locked up in your Chicago crawlspace - that will keep your Chicago residency intact regardless of where you move.
