LOL, no problem here!!! I'll just tell DH not to make any noise in the morning.

I had a great day. A nice, relaxing lunch in a conf. room, shooting the breeze and talking about old times. I was answering work-related questions until I left, ten whole minutes earlier than usual. It was a very happy time, everyone wished me well.

OK, can someone turn me GREEN??

Great thread and congrats to all!

I'm sitting in my office right now literally "drooling" for 8/15/11 to come around. Just the first couple of hours of craziness here already today is really reinenforcing that I've made the right decision. Every time I doubt my decision, it get gets driven home that I have to do this!

Announcing in 1-2 weeks.

Oh, note the conflicting dates between what I said in my post as my last day and my signature...... I get paid on the 15th and the 31st.

I'm reporting off sick on 8/15/11 (a Monday)! First sick day in 30+ years and I'm actually going to call the VP that Monday morning and report off. My last, poor joke.

I'm intending to go to work on that Monday. Think I'm actually going to do any work? (not bloody likely!) It could be the best Monday of my working career

Great to hear all of these stories. I think I'm one of 3 ER's up next at 5/31. I will probalby work that day - a Tuesday, but won't do any work. Right now I'm sitting in a hotel room on my last business trip. Sometimes it's a bit sad, but once I made up my mind to leave, I've become more sure every day.

Hey steelyman! Same date! How are these last months going for you? You mentioned sometimes being sad. How about occassional cold feet? How is your tolerance level at work? Better because you know there is an end, or does each new headache, latest idea, new program just push you closer to knowing you got to go. I'm finding my ever changing mental state kind of interesting, but I over think most things if I'm working!

iGoogle has a great countdown timer. I've got mine set at 8/12/11

Yep, we seem to share the same date and goal. My last months are going smoothly, and I have informally been letting people know what's happening. I will formally do it in May, then embark on terminal vacation and finally do the deed in August. I wouldn't say I've been sad, but certainly some amount of cold feet due to uncertainty about what it'll be like. But that's where all the people on e-r.org are so great - their posts, especially from those who have already taken the plunge - really do a lot to keep you focused on what it's all about and why you are doing this.

I am fortunate in that I have a reasonably laid-back work environment, but gosh I will really be laid-back after August 15th. I hope things are going well for you! And thank you for joining the Class of 2011!

My favorite quote (from the movie Office Space): "I wouldn't say I've been missing work, Bob..."

Yep, I officially done turn green today. Went in Friday evening and had pizza with the last of my coworkers. Cleaned out the last of my personal effects from my office and turned out the lights on my way out. Over 37 years and now I am ready for whatever comes next.
