Today was my last day. Lots of snacks and reminiscing. Went to a meeting for a new project, Really? Never did finish cleaning out my desk. Oh Well. On to the next adventure - retirement. Got lots of projects and hobbies ready to go.

I've already missed my original Feb 2014 target date. At the time I thought I would not go until Feb 2015 at the earliest. Now I'm beginning to wonder. Just recently the BS bucket is starting to fill ever so slowly. We'll see how the next few months go.

Congrats!

I recall that your DW was still working. Any chance she will join you soon?

NW - yes DW is still working, and has said that she is retiring this year, but refuses to say when. If she doesn't retire soon, she's going to miss a couple of trips

Well, I'm done. Today was my last day at work. I'll miss the people, but I don't think I'll miss the job.

Unfortunately, I have to drop off that list. April 2014 is here, and chances are I'm going to duke it out for another few years. Although interestingly enough, a few weeks ago I stirred things up a bit at work and got a trip to Human Resources as a reward. Even though I didn't get fired, I wonder if, subconsciously, maybe I was trying to hold to that April goal I had set?

Oh, and oddly enough, I got a raise letter about an hour after that little wrist-slap! It was just coincidence though. They're changing our review cycles at work. Normally we get our raises in September, but they're changing it to March. However, since they didn't have time to go through a review process, they just gave us all a half-raise, and then we won't get another until March 2015.

2014 still has a lot of time left though, so anything can happen. But, unless the stock market really takes off, or I get some windfall I'm not expecting, I have a feeling I'll still be w*rking come the end of the year.

You should change your profile to reflect 2014 as your FIRE year.

May 2 is the day. No backing out now as they've already hired my replacement to start in June.
Everything appears to be in order for a successful FIRE!

You can take me off the list. I'm only going part-time, not really "retiring."

My last day was April 1st. Great job, but I was ready to retire. Working on some things around the house waiting for my DW to be done in June and then we are off to the CMA festival in Nashville.
