Truth about Villages???
I had lunch today with a friend that was visiting Texas from Florida. While he doesn't live in the Villages, he indicated that a former colleague of ours retired there. I told him it was my understanding that the Villages is one of largest, if not the largest, adult community in the country. He indicated that it also has the highest rate of STDs anywhere. Any truth to that?

Been discussed thoroughly in media and forums. Based on what I gleamed, the story is overblown, half baked, not very reliable, ....

Why wouldn't you see the highest rates of STD in a population that is older? They have lived longer and have had more partners than a population that includes children and teens.
It is like saying the highest rates of heart attacks are in retirement homes...duh!
I bet the Villages has the lowest rate of teen age pregnancy.

Maybe the problem lies in the fact that a significant amount of older married men spend too much time on the golf course, and a certain segment of opportunistic men who don't? That explanation sounds better than too many "throw the keys in the bowel" party. In that age band, the randomness of chance would be way too scary for me!

I formerly was in marketing for a diagnostics company, that specialized in STDs. Historically, the south eastern states have been high inSTDs. Most likely due to the high number of colleges and the large low income populations. Since the advent of Viagra, retirement communities have become a new pocket of high rates of STDs.

Do you reckon they combine their parties with their colonoscopies?
Makes sense if they feel they are running of time

I read an analysis of how large an excess there must be of either sex before the too abundant group gets very accommodating. I can't remember, but it is only fractional, not 10:1 or even 1.25:1. Whoever feels like they might not find a partner when the music stops can get pretty desperate.
But why would there be a black market in Viagra? I doubt it's hard to get an Rx, and then go to the drugstore. Black markets arise in only conditions of scarcity.

Maybe they are being smuggled in from another country. Pfizer has really been given the guys a "stiff one" in the wrong orifice over prices. They want over $30 for one pill! You can get them for a fraction of that price in generic out of country. Hmm if I ever need a retirement job, peddling generic black market Viagra would make a guy a fortune in the Villages. Especially if you knock on the guys' doors that have recently bankrupted themselves buying a bottle of them in America.

Didn't know about this. Still, if it made the difference between intercourse and no intercourse, not a bad deal. I suppose it is fairly near to going off patent?
