Another proof that theory and practice are often different. For the better in this case.
Enjoy.

Excellent writing. However, my retirement has been a bit different. You see, my wife works. And on Sunday she says:
Monday - do the wash
Tue - go grocery shopping, clean out the refrigerator, sweep and mop the kitchen
Wed - clean the bathrooms and toilets, dust the furniture
Thur - vacuum the house, sweep off the porch and clean the patio table and chairs
Fri - clean the windows. Then have the rest of the day off
:-(

Actually, you are describing a phenomenon I also experienced and that I've tried to explain to my DW and other non-retired friends. That is, that there are things you just can't plan for and have to experience after you actually retire. You think you are going to be interested in something and shortly after you retire it doesn't seem so interesting any more. There is a certain element of leaping into the unknown when you retire.
On another note, I gave myself two time milestones when I ER'd. I waited to see how I felt after 1 month because I had never been away from w*rk for more than 3 weeks. No problem. I then waited until 6 months because I figured that was how long it would take me to get through my short term retirement bucket list. At 6 months . . . no problem either. Three years later I am doing just fine.

Thanks for the kind words, folks! Indeed, so far this retirement thing has been everything I had hoped for... and more. I can't recommend it highly enough!
Cantlogin... I do have a photography website. It's in my profile.
It's a damp, overcast Saturday morning here in the mid-Atlantic. Which means most of you still in "the grind" are in the early part of your weekly two-day reprieve. God bless you. Here's (raises mug of hot coffee) to your getting to that point where every day is a Saturday. It'll be here before you know it.

We may be married to the same woman or her twin sister; there are a couple of things my DW adds too like cut the grass, wash the cars, take the dogs for walks and give them baths, cook dinner, and anything else she can think to add, maybe that is why my ER is not what I expected, but since she is still w*rking for the man I do it all. Things will change when she is ER in 15 months and then we can get on with the good stuff.

Great post Jager. Like you I'm two weeks in (6/6). I didn't need a time to "adjust". Just living life as it should be. Time to deal with house projects, volunteering, planning trips. It feels good.

My wife will continue to work while I ER - luckily, our home is small and easily maintained. Perhaps an hour of household duties in the morning, and then the day is mine to enjoy. Even a bit of housework will be ecstasy compared to what my day job has been for the past 25 years.

Retiree's wife: What are you going to do today?
Retiree: Nothing.
RW: But that is what you did yesterday!
R: Yes, but I didn't finish.

How about doing 90% of it while the wash is being done on Monday? Do the rest on Tuesday. Take the rest of the week off.
