USPS Premium Mail Forwarding

I use the USPS Premium Mail Forwarding for my snowbird needs. For the most part it works well, especially when combined with the Informed Delivery Service. The free temporary mail forwarding is not an option for me.

One feature that the service is lacking, is the ability to change to a different address mid-trip. I can stop the entire forwarding service sooner, and hold mail longer, but not switch to a new location and get mail forwarded mid-trip.

On this trip, due to the limitation, there will be an inconvenience, but not a bad one.

I suspect that there is a way to stop the service and re-start it at the new location. More of a strategy thing, than a simple change. I hesitate to do it in the middle of my trip, and have it screw up my mail.

Has anyone ever done a multi-stop address with premium mail forwarding?

Over the years we've come to use a P.O. Box for important mail items (new credit cards/billings, bank statements, and utility bills that are not able to be done via electronic notice and won't be forwarded per mailers instructions). No need to mess with the Post office, except for temporary rerouting. Our P.O. Box is in our DD's town (she has a key) and she also gets our other rerouted mail while we're out of town. Temporary hold/redeliver works for other times. Maybe this could work for you?

Virtually every bill or statement I have comes though electronically. The ones that are paper, get paid electronically. All CCs get paid in full. I do have some things, like a few rent checks, that get mailed to me.

Municipal water bills get mailed hard-copy and are paid electronically. City/state/IRS notices get mailed hard-copy, things like when my renter doesn't mow the grass, or the city is doing road work. Or rental license applications. Items purchased on eBay, from China come via USPS. Some things from Amazon too.

So I do not need 99% of the mail, but the 1% I need, I have to have.

I do not want to have anyone check my mail, as I do not feel my traveling should be someone else's work. I am going to mainly be in FL and MN, so I rather not switch to a PO box.

I can see that maybe a mail service might be worthwhile at some point. I am also going to experiment with taking the Premium Mail Forwarding off, and immediately putting it back on with a different address - after I get back home. I want to do some research first.

I am thinking I will be traveling for 2+ months this fall, and will be in a few different spots. It would be nice to get mail.

I like the premium mail forwarding, as I have several different names that get mail delivered at my house. Nine Companies and several other names. It would be a mess to forward them all, and I do not want my mailbox to fill up with junk mail.

We will be adding a mail service in May one year before we become virtual nomads in order to make sure we get everything transferred over. I am leaning towards St Brendan's Isle service. Looked at several however I think this one is best suited for our needs. Will add the online viewing service when we physically pull up stakes.
