Wanderer Article re Expat Living

I don't believe that Wanderer has ever posted here. But he has posted a lot at the Motley Fool site, at the NoFeeBoards.com site, and at the radd-pages.com site. So there are no doubt a number here who will be interested to know that he has had an article published in the Journal of Financial Planning on expat living.

http://www.fpanet.org/journal/articl...p1104-art8.cfm

Executive Summary: "Millions of Americans work abroad, and the number is expected to grow. Planners need to be aware of the financial benefits of expatriates working in low-tax countries—and even in higher-tax nations: good compensation and benefit packages, long-term wealth-building opportunities, and enhanced career path, among others. To illustrate the benefits and costs, the article focuses on a single low-tax nation—the United Arab Emirates, where the authors live."

Re: Wanderer Article re Expat Living

This article is more applicable for people who still have many working years left. The saving of not paying tax is great for retirement saving.

How about this wild idea? what if 50% of the Americans work overseas, does that mean the U.S. government have to raise the income tax to compensate the difference in tax revenue (if any)?
