What about Cabo San Lucas?

As a West Coaster myself, I love the concept of retiring in Cabo San Lucas.

Real Estate
Real estate is still reasonable (though it has been appreciating considerably lately).

Travel Options
It's only a 2-hour flight to LA, and 3 to SF.

Weather
No such thing as bad weather down there. It's got the dry heat of North America's west coast and the cold waters of the Pacific. It's not a big spot for hurricanes/typhoons.

Cost of Living
They now have a Costco. End of discussion.

Other
Sport fishing, golfing, American ESPN.

Devil's Advocates, take your turns!

Re: What about Cabo San Lucas?

That one has been found. Property prices are through the roof.

Plus constant threat of hurricanes during the season.

Plus Mexico can change their expat rule owning close to the ocean at anytime.

Plus Mexico Peso is a very strong currency. In 5 years you may have to move because your U.S. dollar lost its buying power.

Re: What about Cabo San Lucas?

I've thought about Cabo too but real estate there has become very expensive. My fear is that if CA crashes Cabo will closely follow. And IMHO I think there's a 50% chance of a CA crash.
