Green or otherwise, LI Iced Tea is potent to the point of "just throw your cars keys on the bar"....

In college, my ROTC detachment participated in the annual St. Patrick's Day parade up Fifth Avenue in NYC every year. Full military uniform.

We formed up on 40th Street, took our place in the parade and marched up to the end at 86th Street. For those not familiar with NYC, a city block is 1/20 of a mile. I remember at least one year when we marched in about three inches of snow/slush. Combined with the horse droppings, that made for an intensive session the next day to get the spit shine back on our shoes.

OK, parade over, so what do you do next. Well, you're at 86th Street, known as the Yorktown district, full of good German bars. Then, with 2 or 3 friends, I would cross over to Third Avenue and walk all the way back down to Union Square (14th Street) to get the subway. We made it our practice to stop in nearly every Irish bar on Third Avenue. Third Avenue was noted for the number of Irish bars.

Wearing our uniforms, it was frequently difficult to pay for our beers. Patriotism was rampant in those days.

By the time we got to Union Square, we generally concluded that it had been a fine, fine day.

Yes we were traveling and in our hotel. The next days drive, 12 hours to get home was painfully sober.

Not really unusual, I've done it but try (sort of) to not make it a habit. Now we have the incentive to go to the gym at least every other day.

As the weather gets more habitable we'll be out more.

Thanks for the feedback. I also washed a load of clothes, made a crockpot meal, got a driveway estimate (the company I called happened to be in sub-division) and came within an hour! I try to get out the house every day, however, for some reason after I made the bed and dressed I just wanted to putter around. It is a cool (60's) sunny day so I put the windows up and aired out the house. By late afternoon I was no longer feeling guilty.

That's the neat thing about retirement. If you don't want to do anything else, there's no one to tell you that you can't!

There are downsides to living on your own, but one of the upsides is - you get to do what you want to do, whenever you want to do it

The only exception in my case, is that the kitties expect snacks at regular intervals throughout the day

I joined a Walking Group today. The group meets at the Mall and walks at ones own pace. Today happened to be the monthly Birthday celebration at Denny's., I went to that also, it was fun.

Tonight I will be meeting around 20 of my ex-coworkers. Several of them I haven't seen in years. I've been preening, primping and painting in order to get ready for this evening's event. Gosh...it's almost like w*rk.

For today I am pppamI.

Running errands this afternoon. I stopped by the local post office and bought some Jimi Hendrix forever stamps.

Not a thing. Rainy cold day, not fit for being outside. DW is off babysitting her nephew's kids, the regular (his MIL) took a fall and fractured her eye socket. Ouch! I hated to hear of that happening, they're great people. She should be okay but it's going to be a while.

Played around a bit with a new variable density lens filter delivered today. It's used to cut down the amount of light to make it easier to get that "flowing water" or "soft waves on the beach" even in bright sunlight by using a long shutter speed.

I saw those at the Post Office yesterday and was really wishing I needed stamps. Unfortunately, the book of Forever stamps I bought last month will most likely last me a year or two, at the rate I send letters!
