More painting.

When the contractors were adding more roof insulation they missed the rafters a few times. We have an extra dozen nail holes in our livingroom ceiling, although they'll be watertight when the new shingles are installed next month. But we spend an hour this morning patching the holes from below, and tomorrow we'll touch up the paint to match. We hope. I don't think this ceiling has been painted since the house was built 22 years ago. Worst case we'll be at Home Depot to match the color on one of the chips.

The contractors framed out the familyroom walls and started nailing on the exterior siding. So after patching the livingroom, we painted the last of the familyroom ceiling. I think that job's done, although tomorrow in the light of day I'll check for missed spots.

Then this afternoon we painted outside the familyroom-- the eaves and fascia boards. Instead of brush & roller this was about two hours of sprayer work. No rain this time, either, so we managed to cover everything and even it all out.

Now that we've finally finished the eves & fascia, tomorrow we'll start on the exterior siding...

Went on a spending spree yesterday and bought not only the iPad2 but also decided to get my first smartphone and got the new iPhone 4S. I'm really dreading opening the visa statement next month :-( ! I really love all of the apps so far though!

Played with some new Photoshop plug-in software at home that was on sale last week (really neat, if you like that stuff) and took a couple of books to work, only got about halfway through one. They kept interrupting me to take breaks or dinner. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it. Or as another guy said "You just have to pace yourself".

Sunday, the one day I sleep in - until 10 or so.

Stayed up reading until 0200. The weather was beautiful with low temps and humidity so the windows are all open. It's sizing up to be the perfect autumn sleep, and I look forward to waking up to the sound of the birds after the sun is well above the horizon.

At 0345 the fire alarm outside the bedroom door announced "Battery Low!" in voice loud enough for the neighbors to hear through the open windows. Woke me up and I thought about getting up to replace the battery, but it only sounded the once. Back to snoozing.

At 0545 again came the shrill beep and the female voice "Battery Low" - and this time there was no shutting her up.

Wonder why the batteries never go bad during the day.

Briefly consider beating the thing off the ceiling with a broom or baseball bat, but since I'm trying to be a peaceful man these days I grabbed a step ladder instead. Figure out how to detach the power connector, remove the battery and back to bed. Except now the DW's ancient Yorkie is freaked out so it takes half an hour to calm her down and get her back to sleep (Her mom the big Princess is off visiting her BFF so the dog-whispering is my job).

0700 I hear the sound of people cheering from the lake. Look outside the bedroom window and see a crowd cheering on some triathletes. Feed the dog and let her out and try to get back to sleep.

Wonder why they never run these races on Saturdays.

But just as I start to nod off I hear someone playing "Scotland The Brave" on a set of pipes down by the lake. Being Scotch-Irish I feel a stirring to the pipes, but it's Sunday and I think again about finding that baseball bat I was looking for earlier. But I'm a peaceful man these days and he might be a distant cousin so I get up for the day.

Being an open-carry state, I'm amazed that Texas has any surviving pipers...

3. went shopping at CostCo.
4. gave the dogs baths
5. made the DW's lunch
6. cleaned house (alittle)
7. washed the dishes (well filled the dishwasher and ran it)
8. went to dinner with DW
9. cleaned out clothes dryer duct (packed full) was wondering why it was taking so long to dry clothes.
10. bought the Samsung tablet 10.1; having fun with it
11. bought Erich Von Daniken's book History is Wrong
12. worked on retirement spreadsheet updates
13. ordered iPhone 4S; won't be here until next Friday
14. remoted into work to answer some emails
15. checked on data backups and worked on tape library that was offline.
16. read some of the new posts on the forum

Well kind of a slow weekend.

I did very little today.

I finished the 2nd coat of stain on the window, and discovered I need to drill new holes for the metal curtain hold-back thingies and the curtain rod for the sheers. I blew that project off until another day when Mr B is free to help me measure and level the rod.

I defrosted a huge rack of spareribs, rolled them in soy sauce, then cooked 'em slow in the oven. I glazed them with Ah-So sauce (red sweet glaze), and cooked them until the coating got nice and sticky. Yummy!

Waiting for the Milwaukee vs. St Louis baseball game to start. Oops...we found it on TBS.

Around the half way point of my 12 mile hike I sat down to enjoy lunch. It was then that I realized my lunch was sitting on the kitchen counter.

A little while later I came across a very large pile of recycled berries. It looked very fresh.

For the last three days I have been painting our bedroom. Today we got our bed back into the bedroom....so we're not camping in the backyard anymore. The Bunny purchased a new flat screen TV for our bedroom with her casino winnings. We both love the new colors, curtains, and bed covering, which she also purchased.

Pics of our new bedroom, (with camera flash and without), and our backyard "KOA Like" campsite...It's like camping at a KOA, but without the casino and Brew pub within walking distance.

Mr. Nords.... that's a lot of paint my friend! I think I used up 3 gallons painting our bedroom. May use another 1/2 gallon, painting the trim and closet doors.
